Alejandro Garnacho has “valuable asset” that other Man United players must learn, says club legend
One Manchester United club legend believes that Alejandro Garnacho has a “valuable asset” that his teammates should try and develop.
Ten Hag chose to start Bruno Fernandes as the striker in United’s Community Shield match against Manchester City at Wembley Stadium, with Marcus Rashford and Amad Diallo supporting him on the wings.
Alejandro Garnacho came off the bench in the second half and opened the scoring by quickly advancing down the right wing, cutting inside on his weaker left foot, and slotting the ball past Ederson.
The Argentine impressed during his brief appearance, reminiscent of the impact he frequently made as a substitute during the 2022/23 season.
Unfortunately, City equalised just minutes before the final whistle, and Pep Guardiola’s side emerged victorious in the penalty shootout.
Despite the loss, there were significant positives for Ten Hag’s team, particularly Garnacho’s performance off the bench.
Rio Ferdinand has had his say on the 20-year-old winger, with the United legend stating that Garnacho’s ability to take the game by the scruff of the neck is a “valuable asset.”
“He just fills me with so much enthusiasm, man, his appetite for the big moments,” Ferdinand told his YouTube channel.
“Again, he’s saying give me the ball in the big moments, I am going to take this game, get you a goal.
“It’s a valuable asset to have when you have got someone who’s so young, so enthused when he comes on and wanting to hurt the opponents at every given opportunity. And he’s so direct.”
Garnacho has often performed on the big occasion despite his youth, and many of his teammates could take note of this heading into the 2024/25 campaign.
