Fabrizio Romano reports on Alejandro Garnacho’s response to an unnamed Saudi Arabian club as they tried to enter negotiations.
Alejandro Garnacho continues to push for a move away from Manchester United this summer, as Chelsea remain favourites to sign the winger.
The 21-year-old fell out with manager Rúben Amorim after the Europa League final loss in May, where Garnacho expressed his frustration from being left on the bench.
The Argentine was later named in Amorim’s infamous five-man “Bomb Squad” this summer, along with fellow outcasts Antony and Rasmus Hojlund.
Multiple European clubs have enquired about Garnacho, and now an unnamed Saudi Arabian club has been reported to have expressed its interest.
“It’s not about the money” – Garnacho
As the Saudi project grows, an enticing factor many players have succumbed to is the money involved in these lucrative deals.
Their next target is Garnacho, who comes with a reputation as one of Europe’s best young wingers, having made over 90 Premier League appearances for the Reds.
Fabrizio Romano reported that Garnacho and his camp told the Saudi club, “It’s not about the money, Garnacho wants to join Chelsea.”
Garnacho obviously believes he has something to prove still in England, after a disappointing end to his career at United, and Chelsea is the chosen club for his future.
Garnacho wants Chelsea
The London club is known for its expensive transfers in European football, spending over £1 billion in the last three years. Having already signed two first-team wingers this transfer window, Garnacho is the club’s next target.
Romano also reported: “Garnacho’s camp are optimistic, turning down all other approaches,” despite reports that Chelsea are far off United’s valuation of Garnacho currently.

United have wasted no time finding replacements for the 21-year-old, completing the acquisitions of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo earlier this window.
Despite this, other priority targets, such as a new central midfielder and goalkeeper, have become harder to negotiate as the sale of Garnacho and other unwanted players is needed to finalise other deals.
Fans will remember the impact Garnacho had during his first season at the club, and despite a spoiled ending, will wish him well for his future.
