According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Alejandro Garnacho has decided where he wants to play his football after leaving Manchester United this summer.
Manchester United are focusing on player exits this summer as Rúben Amorim begins to reshape his squad at Old Trafford.
A £62.5 million deal for Matheus Cunha from Wolves is already over the line, and talks are ongoing with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo, though an initial offer of £45 million plus £10 million in add-ons has been rejected.
The club are still targeting a new striker and midfielder, with the possibility of signing a goalkeeper also being considered. Several players will depart when their contracts expire this month, and more are expected to follow as the overhaul continues.
Marcus Rashford, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, and Jadon Sancho are all expected to leave, while Rasmus Højlund’s future also remains uncertain.
Garnacho picks his next destination
With Garnacho United’s most valuable asset and is certain to leave this summer, the player is prioritising a move within the Premier League as he prepares to leave United, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Behind-the-scenes talks are already underway between his representatives and English clubs, with the player now more focused on staying in England than he was during the January window. A final decision is expected in the coming weeks as interest continues to build, with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Aston Villa all linked with the player.
German champions Bayer Leverkusen have shown interest in the Argentine winger, and Erik ten Hag is said to view Garnacho as a “dream target”. However, Romano reports that a deal is considered “almost impossible” due to the overall financial package required, both in terms of salary and transfer fee.
Back in January, Napoli came close to securing a deal for Garnacho, but it ultimately fell through after the player failed to agree on personal terms.
Despite appreciation from several managers, Garnacho’s relationship with United appears to have broken down following the Europa League final, where tensions flared between the player and Amorim.
Antony also on the verge of leaving United
Following Romano’s explanation that Garnacho is certain to leave the club in the coming weeks, the Italian transfer expert stated that another player close to departing Old Trafford is Brazilian winger Antony.
Antony’s time at United since his £86 million move from Ajax has been an objective failure, but following a loan move to Real Betis in January, the player flourished in La Liga and is now piquing the interest of several teams.
United want around £30-35 million this summer, but Betis are pushing to sign the player on loan for a further season, while Juventus and Atletico Madrid have also been touted as possible destinations.
“Antony is another player who is on the verge of leaving the club, looking for solutions at least for one more season, but it also depends on the other proposals that,” Romano explained.
