Alejandro Garnacho: Man Utd star makes transfer decision between Chelsea and Napoli
Alejandro Garnacho could be sold by Manchester United in the January transfer window and multiple clubs are interested in his services.
Manchester United has yet to confirm any major January transfers, though activity is anticipated in the final two weeks of the window.
Some youth players have already made loan moves, such as Ethan Ennis joining Doncaster Rovers, while Antony’s expected transfer to Real Betis could be finalised in the coming days.
Additional departures are necessary for the club to bolster Ruben Amorim’s squad with new signings. Patrick Dorgu has emerged as a primary target, with ongoing negotiations between United and Italian club Lecce over a potential deal.
Meanwhile, persistent speculation surrounds Alejandro Garnacho, who is reportedly available if a club meets United’s £60-70 million valuation.
In fact, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the Argentine’s situation is ‘one to watch’ in the final weeks of the transfer window, with Chelsea and Napoli the clubs most interested.
Garnacho makes transfer decision between Chelsea and Napoli
United are in the precarious position of needing funds in order to complete any major transfers and that is why Garnacho could depart the club.
Receiving £60 million of ‘pure profit’ would be hugely beneficial to the balance sheets and could open opportunities for multiple incomings.
However, United are not willing to budge on their valuation for the 20-year-old and latest reports suggest that both Napoli and Chelsea are going to make fresh offers for him.
While the player has supposedly spoken on the phone with Antonio Conte, it has been reported by UtdMenace that Garnacho’s preference is to move to Chelsea.
He would remain in the Premier League and may be eyeing the left-wing position in Enzo Maresca’s team, as former Red Jadon Sancho, nor Pedro Neto have proven themselves as undroppable in the position.
United must sign top replacement if Garnacho leaves
United fans remain understandably split on the Garnacho situation but there is one thing everyone agrees on. Should he depart, the club must get a top class replacement.
INEOS cannot give Amorim another player who has potential – they need to be ready-made and prepared to make an immediate impact.
That player could be Matheus Cunha, whose future at Wolves is still uncertain despite the contract offer they have made for him.
There is certainly a time to buy ‘project players’ but this is not one of those times. Amorim needs top quality and if the club were to receive £60 million from Garnacho’s sale, there is no excuse to not go and get that top quality.
