Antonio Conte drops transfer bombshell as Manchester United ‘name Alejandro Garnacho price’ for Napoli move
According to a new report, Manchester United have now named their price for Alejandro Garnacho as Napoli manager Antonio Conte has demanded his side sign the winger.
Manchester United are within the 2025 January transfer window during a difficult period, having endured four consecutive defeats in the Premier League and Carabao Cup before the new year.
A hard-fought 2-2 draw with league leaders Liverpool, however, has provided a much-needed boost, easing some of the pressure on the squad.
Rúben Amorim is tasked with addressing the team’s key weaknesses, including the need for a left-back, a centre-back, a striker, and multiple midfielders. However, financial restrictions following heavy spending under Erik ten Hag have made significant reinforcements challenging.
To navigate these constraints, United are prioritising player sales in January and the summer to free up funds and lay the groundwork for a much-needed rebuild.
Conte demands Napoli sign Garnacho from United
According to the Italian outlet SportItalia, Napoli have now entered the race for Alejandro Garnacho as a replacement for departing winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who is close to signing for Paris St. Germain.
Garnacho was recently named as a player United would reluctantly consider selling should the need to do so arise due to financial pressures, as his sale would count as pure profit on the club’s books.
According to the bombshell report, manager Antonio Conte as personally demanded that Napoli secure the signing of the 20-year-old winger from Old Trafford.
It is claimed that Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna is now taking steps to initiate contact with United regarding a possible transfer in the summer.
This is not the first time Garnacho has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with Atletico Madrid said to be keen on resigning him.
United name Garnacho asking price
The SportItalia report further suggests that the price Napoli have learned it will cost them to sign Garnacho is around €50 million (£42 million).
This is lower than previously suggested, with Garnacho deemed to have a transfer value of as high as £97 million.

Amorim has been keen to state that he wants to keep all of his talented players at the club, stating that he is really happy with both Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo.
“Our idea is always to keep the best players and the players that we build for this club,” he told the press on Friday afternoon.
“But we know the position that the club is in at the moment, but we will see. I’m very happy, I like our players, especially the guys from our Academy.
“My players are always my favourites. I really love my players. I want to keep my players, especially the talented ones. Like I said, it’s a special moment in this club, it’s a hard moment, but, of course, I’m really happy with Kobbie, he’s improving, and also with Garna [Garnacho].”
