“It’s best to…” Alejandro Garnacho says two things all Manchester United fans want to hear
Alejandro Garnacho has said two things that Manchester United fans want to hear as he develops at Old Trafford.
Alejandro Garnacho has been a revelation at Manchester United ever since he made the step up from the Academy to the first team under Ralf Rangnick and Erik ten Hag.
The 20-year-old winger recently made his 100th appearance for the club during the club’s away fixture against West Ham, and two and a half years on from his debut against Chelsea on April 2022, he faced the Blues again in a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.
In his last campaign, he made 37 starts in a row during a difficult period under Ten Hag, and he has continued his fine form into this season, having been involved in more goals this season than any other player at the club.
As Rúben Amorim joins the club as the new head coach later this month, many are keen to see how the Argentina international will develop across the next few seasons.
Garnacho’s decision-making
One aspect of Garnacho’s game that has been criticised in the past is his decision-making – sometimes, he has made the wrong move in the final third, which has squandered chances, although this is expected of a raw Academy talent.
However, after over 100 appearances, the player is now showing signs that his decision-making is becoming more precise, which is something all United fans will want to hear.
“I have always been this type of player,” he told United Review. “To be daring, to always try and try again and, if it doesn’t work, try again and never give up. That’s just who I am as a footballer, and in the future, I want to continue to reach my potential.
“I always try to do the best I can. Sometimes, it comes off, sometimes it doesn’t, but I always try to do the best for the team. Sometimes, it’s best to dribble.
“Other times, it’s best to cross. It depends on the situation, but I always try to contribute the best I can and say, at the end of the game, that I have done everything possible.”
The fearless winger
Beyond this, he also explained in the interview that he does not get nervous, which is a trait that all players playing for a club like United must have to withstand the pressure.
“As a kid, I have always been this type of person,” he explained. “Not just as a player but as a person. I have never been scared of anything and never get nervous – even if I play well or badly. So this is another point in my favour when playing, so yeah, I have always been like this.
“The only time I got a little bit nervous was when I entered the field of play for the FA Youth Cup final. The stadium was completely full, and it was the first time I had experienced this.
“But, after that point, I’ve not felt that pressure again, and I love playing at home with our fans.”
