Tottenham Hotspur defender Christian Romero has stated that Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho could have a massive future in football.

Garnacho, 19, has been one of the best players in a Manchester United team that has underwhelmed at times in Erik ten Hag’s second season at the club.

Last season Garnacho made just five Premier League starts. This season alone, he has now made twenty starts, with an additional five appearances off the bench.

Adapting his style of play to become an option off either wing, Garnacho has scored seven goals and provided six assists in all competitions this season.

Having been born in Spain, Garnacho was eligible to play for the Spanish national team – and even went on to play for the Spanish U18s back in 2021.

However, after declaring himself for the Argentina national team, Garnacho would go on to make his senior international debut for La Albiceleste back in June of last year.

The performances of the teenage winger have attracted the attention of his international teammate and Premier League rival Christian Romero.

Speaking to reporters over the international break, the Spurs vice-captain revealed that he believes Garnacho will have a massive future in the game.

“Garnacho is going to give a lot to this National Team,” Romero stated to TyC Sports. “It is not easy to adapt to this group, but I see him [doing] very well.

“He is very shy, but I see him [doing] very well and with a huge future. It will depend on him how far he wants to go, but the conditions are more than enough.”
