Al-Hilal ‘change transfer fee offer for Bruno Fernandes’ as Manchester United hit with major double blow

Manchester United have been hit with a double blow as Al-Hilal edge closer to tempting Bruno Fernandes away from Old Trafford this summer.

Manchester United’s summer overhaul is accelerating, with Rúben Amorim taking bold steps to reshape the squad ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Jonny Evans, Christian Eriksen, and Victor Lindelöf will leave when their contracts expire next month. Alejandro Garnacho has reportedly been told he is free to find a new club, and Rasmus Højlund could also be sold if the right offer arrives.

Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia are among the players expected to depart, with United targeting over £100 million in sales to help fund Amorim’s rebuild.

Amorim is prioritising reinforcements in attack and midfield, with a clear focus on increasing the squad’s creativity, control, and physical strength. Backed by a determined recruitment team, United are aiming to construct a more dynamic and resilient side capable of handling the Premier League’s pace and intensity.

United hit with double Fernandes blow

While many of the above-mentioned will leave, another player whose future is in serious doubt is United captain Bruno Fernandes.

According to The Athletic, the 30-year-old is “seriously considering” signing for Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal amid a stunning four-year contract offer.

Al-Hilal want the Portuguese international to join them before the Club World Cup takes place next month, and have offered him a contract worth around £80 million net over the course of four years.

While United have already been hit with the blow that he is giving their offer serious consideration, they have further received news that although Al-Hilal were rumoured to be initially willing to offer around £100 million for the player, The Athletic have confirmed that this instead sits at around £80 million.

United are relaxed about Fernandes’ future

Although the above offer for Fernandes is certainly an enticing one and may make financial sense for all parties involved, considering that his sale would count as pure profit on United’s books, The Athletic and several other outlets maintain that United do not want to sell him.

The club are said to be relaxed about his future, and Amorim himself has maintained that Fernandes is a very important player in his team.

“He is really important for us and what we want to build for the team,” Amorim said on Tuesday before United’s first post-season friendly against ASEAN All Stars in Kuala Lumpur.

“We talk about this many times. You can see by his performances. You can see by his leadership. You can see the passion he has for the game. In difficult moments Bruno is the guy who takes responsibility. He should do because he is the captain.”

The player himself admitted that playing for United is a “dream,” stating earlier this month: “I am just a very lucky guy who is living his dream in one of the best clubs in the world, in the best league in the world. What more can I ask?

“I just have to give it my all, for my team-mates, for myself, for my fans and for everyone who has been through every moment with me. That’s all.”
