Al-Hilal have approached Manchester United’s dream summer transfer target after Bruno Fernandes rejected their incredible offer.
Manchester United are coming off the back of a disappointing season and are now focused on rebuilding and improving the squad ahead of the next campaign.
Ruben Amorim is looking to strengthen the team, but with no European football, the club is also expected to trim down the squad, with several departures likely.
Bruno Fernandes, however, is not among those being considered for sale. The club captain was one of the few bright spots last season, registering an impressive 19 goals and 20 assists as he consistently tried to drive the team forward.
Despite United’s stance, there has been strong interest in Fernandes from Saudi Arabia, with Al-Hilal reportedly keen to make him their marquee signing for this summer’s Club World Cup.
Al-Hilal approach United dream target
Al-Hilal have had several meetings with the agent of Fernandes in recent days and they have put astronomical amounts of money on the table.
Fernandes was offered around £700,000-per-week plus bonuses to join the Saudi Pro League side but he has finally made the decision to reject their proposal.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news on Tuesday morning, with the midfielder wanting to stay in Europe despite the ‘crazy’ contract proposal.
Now, reports from Ahmed Ragab have revealed that contacts have taken place between Al-Hilal and Atalanta regarding the signing of Brazilian player Ederson.
The central midfielder has been linked as a potential option in the midfield for United, with some labelling him as a dream signing for Amorim’s squad.
Atalanta’s management have set a price tag between £50-60 million for their star player, which the Saudi club will easily be able to match.
However, United supporters will much prefer the prospect of Fernandes staying at the club rather than buying the Brazilian midfielder.
Fernandes wants to play with good players
Fernandes’ decision to stay at the club comes shortly after the signing of Matheus Cunha and the news that Bryan Mbeumo wants to join too.
Good players want to play with other good players and Fernandes has so often had to settle for those no where near his level at Old Trafford.
Seeing the club’s intent so early on in the window would have undoubtably had an impact on his decision, but now they need to continue acting fast.

Signing another striker and midfielder seem to be the priorities right now, with a potential defensive partner for Fernandes in the engine room a priority addition.
