Agent claims Manchester United have ‘no intention of selling’ underwhelming star
One agent has claimed that Manchester United ‘have no intention of selling’ one underwhelming star in the January transfer window.
Manchester United made five summer signings in the latest transfer window to try and bolster the squad at Old Trafford.
While the Reds have swapped Erik ten Hag for Ruben Amorim, they will still be hoping that all five players become important players for the new head coach.
Noussair Mazraoui, Manuel Ugarte and Leny Yoro are all expected to have starting roles in Amorim’s best team this season.
Matthijs de Ligt is also likely to be fighting for a starting spot in the centre of the back three after a decent start to life at Old Trafford.
Joshua Zirkzee is perhaps the one player who has had the toughest start at his new club, with just three goals in 21 appearances.
After netting the winner against Fulham on his debut, Zirkzee had a long streak where he struggled in front of goal.
While he scored a brace in his first start under Amorim, there have still been question marks over his future.
Reports have even linked Zirkzee to a January move back to Italy, with clubs like Juventus and Napoli reportedly interested.
Agent explains why Zirkzee won’t move
Italian agent and intermediary Vincenzo Morabito works a lot between Serie A and the English market and he has explained that a winter move is extremely unlikely for United’s 23-year-old forward.
“I can exclude a transfer of Zirkzee to Napoli in January. Players at this level hardly move when the league is underway,” he said, as per Sport Witness.
“The Dutchman has just arrived at United and his difficulties in tactical adaptation are normal at this stage. In Italian football, when a player isn’t used to certain game systems, it is normal that he may encounter some initial difficulties.
“As for Zirkzee, Manchester United have no intention of selling him, not even on loan. They would still have to replace him, and this would involve a further investment to replace him in the squad.”
Under Amorim, the Dutch forward can operate in one of the two no.10 positions and he also looked more comfortable when he had Marcus Rashford running beyond him against Everton despite that duo underperforming in the Europa League afterwards.
Football is a confidence game and it seemed clear that Zirkzee had very little amounts over recent months.
