AC Milan sporting director breaks silence on Rasmus Hojlund, makes clear ‘arrive’ claim

Manchester United are looking to sell Rasmus Hojlund before the summer transfer window ends and AC Milan’s sporting director has broken his silence on a potential deal.

Rasmus Hojlund has struggled at Manchester United since his 2023 arrival and it seems like his time with the club is coming to an end.

The Danish striker seemed likely to remain at the club for this season until the surprise signing of Benjamin Sesko occurred.

Since that signing, it has been made obvious that United want to sell Hojlund despite him making it clear that he wants to fight for his place.

After being an unused substitute in the final pre-season fixture of the summer, Ruben Amorim dropped Hojlund from the squad to face Arsenal entirely, showcasing that there is no future for him at Old Trafford.

AC Milan sporting director breaks silence on Hojlund

AC Milan are the team most interested in Hojlund and there have been rumours flying around about a potential move in recent days.

The Italian club are reportedly keen on signing the Dane on an initial loan with the option to buy next summer, whereas United would prefer a permanent exit.

AC Milan sporting director Igli Tare has broken his silence on Hojlund and stated that he is a ‘good option’ for Massimiliano Allegri’s side.

“Hojlund is a good option for us,” Milan’s sporting director told SportMediaset before Sunday’s Coppa Italia win over Bari.

“We’re evaluating him these days, but the transfer market is unpredictable. We know we have to intervene in that position and that they must be players who can give something extra to this group.”

Tare was also asked about reported interest in Dušan Vlahović, and made it clear that Milan must sign a centre-forward before the transfer deadline. “That’s also a possibility,” he said. “A striker has to arrive.”

Hojlund needs to step away from United spotlight

It wouldn’t be a shock if Hojlund thrived in Italy should the move go through, but that doesn’t necessarily mean leaving United is the wrong call.

The young striker needs to step out of the Old Trafford spotlight and refine key aspects of his game before he can truly develop into a top-level Premier League forward.

While he could remain as a backup option in Manchester, his minutes would likely be limited with Sesko and Joshua Zirkzee ahead of him in the pecking order, especially with no European fixtures on the calendar this season.

AC Milan’s interest is genuine, and it appears Hojlund himself is warming to the possibility of a switch.
