Alan Shearer has waxed lyrical about one ‘absolutely outstanding’ Manchester United star after their 4-0 win over Everton.

Ruben Amorim has managed three matches for Manchester United so far, securing two wins and a draw in games against Ipswich Town, Bode/Glimt and Everton.

Amad Diallo has emerged as a standout performer during this period, contributing three assists and earning a Man of the Match award against The Toffees.

The 22-year-old has impressed Amorim with his adaptability, excelling in a right wingback role within the manager’s new system.

Shearer waxes lyrical about Amad

Alan Shearer watched the latest encounter at Goodison Park, where Amad secured two assists, and was extremely complimentary of the wide player.

The former Newcastle and Blackburn striker explained four key traits shown by the Ivorian in the 4-0 win.

“Amad Diallo was absolutely outstanding on the right hand side, he was fantastic. Player of the Match,” the Premier League’s all-time top goalscorer expressed on his podcast, the Rest is Football.

“He was a constant threat, his work-rate, his attitude, his understanding of what his manager wants from him in that position is brilliant.

“I watched that game as well, you know, and for the first 20 minutes Everton got into to so many good positions.

“The final pass, final ball, a couple of big chances that they missed and then once Man United got the first one, they sort of caved in.

“It was it was a good performance in the end for Man United.”

United planning to accelerate Amad contract

According to The Telegraph, United boss Amorim has prioritised securing a new long-term contract for Amad.

Amad’s current deal is set to expire in June 2025, allowing him to negotiate a potential free transfer with European clubs as early as next month.

While United have considered triggering the optional one-year extension in his contract, which would extend his stay until June 2026, the club is now focused on rewarding the 22-year-old with a longer-term agreement.

The report highlights that Amad’s contract situation is a key agenda item in the coming weeks, especially following his standout performances under Amorim.

Fabrizio Romano has also reported progress in negotiations with Amad’s representatives, with United aiming to finalise a deal before the end of December.
