Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s first words after leaving Man United to join West Ham
Aaron Wan-Bissaka has conducted his first interview following his move from Manchester United to West Ham.
Wan-Bissaka spent five years at Old Trafford following his £50 million move from Crystal Palace in 2019.
The fullback made 190 appearances for United and played a crucial part in winning the 2023 Carabao Cup and 2024 FA Cup.
“Aaron Wan-Bissaka has left Manchester United to join West Ham United on a permanent transfer,” a club statement read.
“Everyone at United would like to thank Aaron for his contributions to the club and we wish him all the best for the future.”
The 26-year-old has signed a seven-year deal at the London Stadium and has expressed his happiness at returning to his home city.
“It was a no-brainer for me to join West Ham – I’m excited and happy to be here,” he told West Ham’s club media.
“It’s an amazing feeling to be back in London, and I’m excited for what’s coming. I was born here, so I know the ins and outs of London, which plays a big part in my life, so to be back playing in this city means a lot to me.
“I’m happy to be here, am grateful for the warm welcome, and I am excited to be playing for the Club and will give it my all.
“I can’t wait to get on the pitch, get to know the players, and push on from there. I see a team that is in it together, that will push each other to win.
“[This is] a group that has got each others’ backs through thick and thin, so being part of that and having that insurance helps a lot when you are surrounded by a good squad.”
United are expected to announce the signing of Bayern Munich defender Noussair Mazraoui as a replacement on Tuesday.
We wish Wan-Bissaka all the best in his future. United will play West Ham at the end of October, where they will face him and his new team.
