Manchester United have been active in the transfer window so far and are also targeting a £25 million-rated wingback for Ruben Amorim’s squad.
Following a disappointing season, Manchester United are wasting no time in the transfer market as they begin rebuilding for the upcoming campaign.
Ruben Amorim has already wrapped up his first addition with the signing of Matheus Cunha, and focus has now shifted to Bryan Mbeumo, who is eager to join the club.
United have seen an initial bid of £55 million rejected by Brentford but are preparing another offer which is more likely to be accepted by the Premier League outfit.
Meanwhile, United are also on the hunt for a new striker, with multiple options currently being assessed, and a potential wingback to bolster the wide areas.
United willing to offer £25m for Brazilian star
One of the few wingbacks who have been linked with an Old Trafford move this summer as AS Monaco defender Vanderson.
The 23-year-old played 41 times for the French outfit last season, scoring two goals and registering five assists playing as a fullback although he has experience playing as a wingback beforehand.
Vanderson’s form earned him a call-up to the Brazil national team for Carlo Ancelotti’s first games in charge alongside the United trio of Antony, Casemiro and Cunha.
It has now been reported by Fichajes that United have their sights set on the right-sided defender and believe he is perfectly suited to the wingback role under Amorim.
The report states that the Reds are willing to make a £25 million offer for Vanderson and that Monaco would ‘seriously consider’ that deal.
Vanderson would offer quality in depth on right
With the signing of Mbeumo, the most likely starting right wingback at United next season is Amad, an offensive option in that role.
However, in terms of backups for that position, it is Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui but both players are better suited to the back three or playing as a fullback in a back four system.
Vanderson could offer a good blend of attacking and defensive abilities – similar to Patrick Dorgu on the right side – as well as increased depth for the flanks.
This is not likely to be a deal United turn their attention to until towards the end of the window, with pure focus on Mbeumo, a striker and a centre midfielder beforehand.
