Xavi waxed lyrical about “dangerous” Manchester United star as INEOS approach former Barcelona manager
Xavi has waxed lyrical about one “dangerous” Manchester United star as INEOS approach the former Barcelona manager.
Manchester United have had a difficult start to the season this term, with four wins in their opening 11 fixtures.
Erik ten Hag will need to improve things at Old Trafford dramatically, with pressure building for the Dutch manager.
With there being growing doubt over his long-term future at the club, speculation has arisen over who INEOS could potentially choose to replace him at the helm.
Xavi approached by United chiefs
According to a new report from MailSport, Xavi is emerging as a potential target for the Old Trafford outfit if the club decide to sack Ten Hag.
The report added that intermediaries have made contact with the former Barcelona boss twice in the last few months.
INEOS spoke to several managers in the summer, including new England boss Thomas Tuchel before concluding that Ten Hag was the best man to lead the club forward.
However, with pressure rising for the Dutchman, there are beginning to be several names reported as potential replacements, with Xavi joining the likes of Rúben Amorim and Edin Terzic on the list.
Xavi praise for Marcus Rashford
If Xavi was the man to end up replacing Ten Hag at United, he would certainly be delighted to be working with Marcus Rashford.
United’s no.10 terrorised his Barcelona side in their 2022/23 Europa League clashes and he expected a difficult time from “one of the most dangerous players in Europe”.
He told reporters ahead of the games: “In the transition, he is very, very dangerous so, yes, we need to take care of all of them but especially Rashford.
“He’s one of the most dangerous players now in Europe, yeah. He’s very fast, he has a very good at dribbling in one-versus-one.”
