“Worst signing…” – Man Utd outcast completely slammed as “catastrophe” by ex-player, Ruben Amorim totally disagrees

Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount has been slammed as a “catastrophe” by one of the club’s former players.

Manchester United made a surprise move to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea in the summer of 2023 for a reported £50 million.

Joining from a Premier League rival, Mount faced the challenge of winning over United fans, especially after being handed the iconic No.7 shirt.

However, the midfielder has struggled to make an impact, with injuries disrupting his time at Old Trafford. He has been sidelined for the past three months after suffering a hamstring injury against Manchester City in December.

Despite returning from injury this week, there are still many doubts over the 26-year-old and his ability to help United going forward.

Ex-United defender slams Mount

Ex-United defender Paul Parker has completely slammed the midfield player and labelled him as one of the worst signings in football history.

Parker does not only think Mount’s injuries are a problem, but also his quality and lack of a true position. He doesn’t even think Mount knows where his best position is.

“Mason Mount is one of the worst signings ever – kike, in the history of football,” Parker said when speaking to SpilXperten.

“It is literally a catastrophe. He is a disaster and he was that in Chelsea as well, so I can’t get my head around why Man United decided to bring him in.

“I have always said that I don’t know what his best position is. I don´t know what he is good at, and even worse I don’t think he knows either.

“Of course, it is a shame for him that he is always injured, but… Is he really injured? I don’t know, but it seems like he very easily get in a shape where he can’t or doesn’t want to play football.

“He doesn’t have the level to play for Man United, and he is not the only one, I am well aware of that. He might not even be the biggest problem, but he is just not helping the team and that is regardless of whether he is playing or not.”

Amorim disagrees with Mount criticism

United boss Amorim has already issued his thoughts on Mount which shows he’d completely disagree with Parker’s assessment on the player.

In terms of his best position, Amorim has already stated that Mount is “perfect” to play in one of the two no.10 roles in his system – that is where he played his best football at Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel.

For the United boss, the main concern will be getting the player fit because Amorim places a lot of importance on the physicality needed as a team to improve.

On paper, Mount is a useful player in that aspect as he never stops running and pressing when he’s on the field. In reality, he needs to prove he can be on that field more often.
