Why Noussair Mazraoui missed Manchester United training as Ruben Amorim explains triple absence

Noussair Mazraoui was among a trio of Manchester United stars to be absent from Ruben Amorim’s training session on Friday afternoon.

Manchester United resume Premier League action following the international break, with Ruben Amorim looking to build on their recent momentum.

The Reds impressed against Arsenal, Real Sociedad, and Leicester City before the pause, and several players have used the break to rest or recover from injuries.

Amorim will need all hands on deck as United kick off a demanding run of fixtures with a tricky away trip to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night.

The United boss had most of his squad back in action at Carrington on Friday, with club cameras capturing the action.

Mazraoui among players missing from United training

Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro and Luke Shaw were among the players on the grass in Amorim’s latest session, which is a solid boost for the boss.

Several international stars such as André Onana, Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes were all back with the squad after playing for their countries recently.

However, it was noticed that Noussair Mazraoui, Victor Lindelöf and Manuel Ugarte were all absent from the session, casting doubt over their availability for the Forest clash.

All three players were involved for their national teams over the last week and fans might have been unsure if the trio picked up knocks while away from Old Trafford.

Amorim gives United trio extra break

It has since been explained by the Manchester Evening News that all three of those players would have been given extra time off after playing games on Tuesday.

Due to the travel and gap between fixtures, it was claimed that Amorim said those players would get an extra break ahead of the Forest game.

Ugarte had only just played in Bolivia while Mazraoui starred in an away game against Niger and a game in Morocco versus Tanzania.

Lindelöf’s travelling was not as intense but the defender did play 90 minutes for Sweden against Northern Ireland following his lengthy spell on the sidelines.

It remains to be seen whether Ugarte and Mazraoui will be in contention to start on Tuesday against Forest, with it seeming possible Amorim rests them both due to having a bolstered squad.
