The reasoning as to why Matheus Cunha has missed two Manchester United games has been revealed, despite ‘minor’ problem. His injury details have been revealed.
Of the three attacking signings that Manchester United made over the course of the summer transfer window, Matheus Cunha has been the unluckiest with adding goals to his performances.
Cunha’s attacking partner, Bryan Mbeumo, has tallied five goals in the Premier League so far, whilst the Brazilian has managed only one so far in his ten appearances.
Despite multiple impressive performances for Ruben Amorim’s side, Cunha only has the one goal, and to worsen matters, he was absent through injury for the Reds’ loss to Everton.
It was reported that Cunha missed out on the 1-0 loss to Everton due to a knock, although further details on the attacker’s current injury have been provided.
Cunha almost ‘knocked out’
It has been understood by TalkSPORT that United’s new Brazilian will be forced to miss his side’s trip to Selhurst Park on Sunday, with his injury being considered a ‘minor issue’.
The 26-year-old was ‘almost knocked out’ during training, and to abide by concussion protocol, he will have to miss out on his second league fixture in a row.
The FA’s concussion guidelines state: “Concussion should be managed with a short period of relative rest followed by a gradual return to normal activities as symptoms allow.
This will certainly come as a huge miss to the Reds, as they desperately lacked his creativity and ball-carrying ability against Everton, especially considering his record against the Eagles.
United need to adapt
After failing to score at home to David Moyes’ 10-man Everton side on Monday night, questions will be asked as to whether United can find a way to break down Oliver Glasner’s Palace.
Despite an absence in goal contributions, Cunha has been very important in helping his side progress the ball up the pitch, as well as providing a constant attacking threat.
Cunha has amassed two goals and an assist in his five games against Crystal Palace, and given their impressively rigid defence, the Reds could have done with their Brazilian maestro.
Amorim will hope that, even without both Benjamin Šeško and Cunha on Sunday, his side can find a way to get a result against a formidable Palace.
