Why Marcus Rashford is not in the Manchester United squad vs Fulham
Marcus Rashford is not in the Manchester United squad as they face Fulham in the Premier League.
Manchester United are looking to rectify a bad defeat against Manchester City in their last league fixture as they prepare to face Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Erik ten Hag has been unable to select Marcus Rashford for the tie after he did not travel with the squad to face Fulham.
It has been said that Rashford was not included in the squad due to injury, with the player suffering a heavy knock in training ahead of the game, and although the club waited until the last minute to gauge his availability, and included him in the travelling squad for the clash, he will not play.
Speaking on the winger’s absence, Ten Hag said: “He was travelling with us but he didn’t make it. He’s not fit.”
Asked whether he would’ve started if he was fit, he added: “Yes.”
Rashford has been on poor form so far this season, having scored just one goal – a curled effort against Arsenal in a 3-1 loss at the Emirates.
In his place starts Alejandro Garnacho on the left wing, who has become a fan-favourite at Old Trafford since his emergence last season.
Garnacho famously scored a last-minute winner against Fulham at Craven Cottage last campaign, and fans will be hoping he can replicate his good performance at the group once again.
United currently sit eighth in the Premier League table on 15 points out of a possible 30.
