Dimitar Berbatov has made an ‘unbelievable’ claim about Manchester United following their 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.
Manchester United secured a comfortable 2–0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in their Premier League clash at Old Trafford.
The hosts made the brighter start, with Bryan Mbeumo going close early on, before Spurs grew into the game and enjoyed a brief spell of possession. United stayed organised defensively and gradually wrestled back control, with the match turning on a key moment before the interval.
Cristian Romero was dismissed for a reckless challenge on Casemiro, leaving Tottenham a man short. United capitalised soon after, as a clever corner routine created space for Mbeumo to slot a composed finish into the bottom corner, sending Carrick’s side into the break with a deserved lead.
After half-time, United dominated the ball as expected, while Spurs dropped deep to protect their goal. Two United efforts were chalked off for offside before Bruno Fernandes eventually added the second.
The captain met a powerful delivery from Diogo Dalot with a precise finish, guiding the ball beyond the goalkeeper to confirm the victory and secure all three points for Manchester United.
Berbatov makes ‘unbelievable’ claim about United
United’s impressive victory ensured that they remained fourth in the table and they are now just three points away from Manchester City, who have a game-in-hand against Liverpool on Sunday.
This was not a position many fans expected to be in and ex-United striker Dimitar Berbatov has claimed that it is ‘unbelievable’ for his former team to be in the top four right now.
Speaking on Premier League Productions, Berbatov said: “Unbelievable, who knew that in this stage of the season Man Utd would be fourth?
“With how the season started, now look at them, three points behind second. It is a great run, and today everything went for them including the red card for Romero.”
United can gain more momentum in next three games
United’s next three games come against West Ham, Everton and Crystal Palace, although the first two of those clashes are both away from home.
No clash in the Premier League is easy but Carrick’s side can certainly make a statement in the coming weeks and cement a place in those Champions League spots.

United must also be wary of those behind them, however. A slip up could see them enter that group fighting for those top five positions.
They have the chance to win their fifth game in a row against The Hammers next week and a positive result would only give the team more confidence.
