When Manchester United could announce Bryan Mbeumo signing as medical details confirmed

Bryan Mbeumo’s move to Manchester United is moving closer and after some medical details were confirmed, an announcement of the transfer has been narrowed down.

Manchester United are close to finalising their second signing of the summer, with a deal for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo nearing completion.

After securing Matheus Cunha earlier in the window, head coach Rúben Amorim is eager to further strengthen his attacking lineup. Talks for Mbeumo have been challenging, but negotiations have advanced significantly in recent days.

An initial £55 million bid for the 25-year-old was rejected in early June, prompting United to return with an improved offer worth over £60 million.

According to reports, the two clubs have now agreed on a base transfer fee, with ongoing discussions over performance-based add-ons that could raise the total value of the deal to approximately £65 million.

There has been a lot of talk about when the club will announce this signing and that date is starting to be narrowed down following the latest reports.

When United could announce Mbeumo signing

It has been revealed by talkSPORT that Mbeumo is set to undergo his United medical next week, suggesting that those final details regarding the fee are close to being agreed.

Several reports have also noted that United are planning to announce the 25-year-old as a new signing before they begin pre-season training on the following Monday.

What usually happens when United are signing a player is that they undergo their medical before conducting different media requirements for the club’s channels, including their first interview, on the following day.

They are then usually announced as a new player on the day after those media duties. For Joshua Zirkzee last summer, his medical was on 12 July before he was announced on 14 July.

In the same window, Manuel Ugarte passed his medical on 28 August and then the club announcement came on 30 August.

Should this be the case with Mbeumo, his announcement would be between Wednesday 2 July and Sunday 6 July as reports did not specify what day of the week Mbeumo is set to travel for his medical.

Mbeumo set to play vs Leeds in first pre-season friendly

Mbeumo’s announcement coming next week also means that he will be present for the start of pre-season, alongside fellow newcomer Cunha.

That is a big boost for the Reds, even if some fans wanted to have a striker through the door by that point in time as well.

Mbeumo and Cunha will be in action for the very first time at United when they face Leeds in Sweden for their first pre-season friendly of the summer on 19 July.

While it is unlikely that any outfield players are on the pitch for longer than 45 minutes in that game, it will be great for the fans to finally see those two on the pitch in United colours.
