When Manchester United are expected to announce Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui
Manchester United are closing in on completing a double transfer for Bayern Munich pair Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.
United kicked off the 2024 transfer window with a bang, securing Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and outmanoeuvring Real Madrid to sign Leny Yoro from Lille.
These two signings, totalling £88 million, put the club in a position where player sales were necessary to fund further transfers.
Erik ten Hag approved the departures of Mason Greenwood, Willy Kambwala, Alvaro Fernandez, and others to raise funds.
United then shifted their focus to strengthening key areas, particularly midfield, right-back, and centre-back.
On Saturday, it was announced that the club had reached an agreement with Bayern Munich to sign both Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, with the deals set to be completed simultaneously.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that De Ligt and Mazraoui have completed their medical tests and that everything went well after they travelled to Manchester on Monday morning.
The Italian journalist added that the two players will sign all of the official documents and conduct their club media responsibilities in the next 24 hours before an announcement is made.
This follows on from the Manchester Evening News reports, which explained that an announcement is not expected on Monday.
Once all the formalities are dealt with, the club is likely to announce the deal on Tuesday afternoon or evening. Both players will be available for selection for United’s opening Premier League game.
They will face Fulham at home in their first game at Old Trafford since a 3-2 win against Newcastle in May.
