When Lisandro Martínez and Alejandro Garnacho will return to Manchester United after Copa America victory
Lisandro Martínez and Alejandro Garnacho were victorious as Argentina beat Columbia in the final of the 2024 Copa America.
The United duo celebrated their 1-0 final victory in brilliant fashion, with Martínez being one of the players of the tournament for the winners.
Argentina did not concede a single goal during the tournament while the United defender was on the pitch.
Garnacho had a lesser role in the team, with the direct winger making just one appearance during the group stage, but it was an excellent experience for the 19-year-old star.
Many Reds fans are now looking forward to welcoming the two Copa America winners back to the club.
Erik ten Hag’s team played their opening pre-season friendly on Monday, losing 1-0 to Norwegian side Rosenborg.
Only a few first-team players were available for the match due to international competitions this summer.
As players who represented their countries finish their post-tournament holidays, staggered returns are anticipated, with the England and Argentina players among the last to return.
After playing the final in the United States on Monday, 15 July, Martínez and Garnacho will each be afforded three weeks of holiday.
That comes just after the club’s final pre-season friendly in America against Liverpool on the 4 August.
Since Garnacho had a busy season and Martínez played a key role for Argentina, it is likely that both players take full time off to recover and prepare for the next season.
That means that it is unlikely we will see them on the United States tour with United, although both could perhaps get important minutes during the Community Shield against Manchester City.
