When is the Carabao Cup quarter-final? Tottenham vs Manchester United confirmed

Manchester United will face Tottenham Hotspur in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup following their 5-2 win over Leicester City.

Manchester United hit Leicester City for five at Old Trafford as Ruud van Nistelrooy cruised into the Carabao Cup quarter-finals during his first game as interim manager.

While United wait to appoint Rúben Amorim as the new head coach, many speculated if the squad would be distracted, but goals from Casemiro (2), Bruno Fernandes (2), and Alejandro Garnacho saw the team into the next round of the competition in style.

There were some shaky moments, with Altay Bayındır conceding two on the night, but overall, the club looked dominant on their home turf, installing a sense of belief back at the club.

Multiple players were afforded rests or reduced minutes, with Van Nistelrooy no doubt having one eye on Sunday afternoon’s Premier League fixture against Chelsea.

Quarter-final opponents

Following Manchester City’s 2-1 loss against Tottenham Hotspur, the Carabao Cup quarter-final draw confirmed that United would face Spurs next in the competition.

The two sides will do battle at the Tottenham Hotspur, as Ange Postecoglu’s team were drawn first from the pot.

When is the game?

Quarter-final ties will take place the week commencing 17 December. This puts the fixtures in the middle of a very busy schedule.

On either side of this tie, United will face Manchester City away from home on 15 December and will face Bournemouth at Old Trafford the following weekend.
