What Ruben Amorim said about Amad’s injury return after cryptic Man Utd message

Manchester United star Amad was initially ruled out for the rest of the season through injury but could return to action sooner than expected.

Amad has been at Manchester United since January 2021 and always seemed like a talented enough player to make it in the first-team squad at Old Trafford.

The Ivorian winger had to be more patient than most, with initial loans to Rangers and Sunderland before moving closer to his ultimate goal.

Even after showing major improvement, Amad’s position in the team under Erik ten Hag was not guaranteed and the Dutch boss was favouring Antony, now on loan at Real Betis.

However, after the arrival of Ruben Amorim at United, the 22-year-old quickly became one of the most important players for the club and was rewarded with a new long-term contract at the beginning of the year.

Unfortunately, after starting extremely well under Amorim, a freak injury in training led to reports saying that Amad would be ruled out for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign

What Amorim said about Amad injury after cryptic United message

It was a huge blow for Amorim and United to lose Amad and it has reflected in their performances, with there being a lack of quality on that right side a lot of the time.

Although, Amad posted a cryptic message on his Snapchat story this week that has managed to get some United fans slightly excited.

The United star uploaded a picture of himself during a game, with a flowing hourglass emoji alongside a happy-face emoji, suggesting that he is nearing a return.

This follows on from Amorim explaining that Amad could in fact be back in action before the end of the season, with there being hope that he could be available in May.

“Even Amad, we will see in the end of the last month,” the United boss said. “I don’t want to say anything but I have the hope to have Amad before the end of the season.”

United’s chances of Europa League success would improve with Amad

United fans would certainly not want to rush Amad back into a Premier League campaign that is essentially dead and buried for the club.

Paper talk about a potential relegation battle is over but United are also way too far away from any European spots in the table. It doesn’t make sense to rush a key player back for these games.

Yet, there is a Europa League campaign ongoing and if United manage to beat Lyon in the quarter-finals, they will have the semi-final clashes played at the beginning of May. Then, should United make it to Bilbao to play the final, the game is set to take place on 21 May.

United are in desperate need of winning this competition in order to qualify for the Champions League next season and many would feel their chances of success would be improved with a fit Amad in the squad.

It remains to be seen whether the winger will be fit for those games, but the initial signs from Amorim’s comments and Amad’s social media activity are positive.
