What Erik ten Hag told Amad Diallo in Manchester United January transfer meeting
It has been revealed that Erik ten Hag and Amad Diallo held meetings in January surrounding the player’s future at Manchester United.
Amad Diallo was signed by Manchester United for a fee of around £18 million from Italian side Atalanta but has spent a significant proportion of time out on loan away from Old Trafford.
Last season he had an incredibly successful campaign with Sunderland in the Championship. However, an unfortunate injury in pre-season left Amad out of action between July and the end of December.

After returning to the fold against Nottingham Forest at the end of 2023, there has been significant interest surrounding his future, with Sunderland keen on him returning on loan to the Stadium of Light – but during January, a move never materialised.
And now, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, it has been revealed that Amad Diallo held positive conversations with Erik ten Hag in January.
It is said that these meetings were crucial to preparing his future involvement in Manchester United’s squad going forward.
In the meetings, it was established that both the club and Ten Hag want to and are willing to trust him to play a role in his team, and that is why a Championship loan in January was never considered as an option.
Due to the fantastic recent form of Alejandro Garnacho, Amad has not really had the chance to show his skills in a United shirt since his return, but with the club looking to push for Champions League places and an FA Cup run, there will become time for the young Ivorian to do so.
