Rumours of an early return to Manchester United for Marcus Rashford from Barcelona have been described as ‘absolute rubbish’.
Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford joined Barcelona on a season-long loan during the summer transfer window.
Rashford, 27, started strongly under Ruben Amorim last season but was quickly exiled from matchday squads and eventually departed to Aston Villa on loan in the January window.
It was obvious that he wanted a move to Barcelona but that did not materialise at the time since Ansu Fati refused to leave the Spanish club.
That move eventually happened this summer, with Rashford moving to Barcelona on a season-long loan. The La Liga outfit also have an option to buy him next year.
Rashford has now made three appearances for Hansi Flick’s side, with two of those coming off the bench.
What Barcelona really told Rashford’s agent amid United return rumours
There were some rumours flying around in recent days which suggested that Barcelona were considering terminating Rashford’s loan in the next January window.
Experienced Spanish journalist Guillem Balague has clarified the situation, and labelled those rumours as ‘absolute rubbish’.
He also explained that Barcelona have told Rashford’s representatives that they have a lot of confidence in his potential and they believe he will recover as a top player.
“We are very happy because a player of great quality is coming, at a great age to come to Barça with extraordinary motivation,” Barcelona president Joan Laporta said after Rashford signed for the club.
“We have him very motivated. He came in strong as a rock, he’s very excited, he’s entered well with his teammates and I’m very happy because two years ago he beat us in the Europa League. He made the difference in the tie and that’s why I’m very happy that he came.”
United players dealt tougher hands
No matter what you think about Marcus Rashford, it is undeniable that the treatment of him within the media most of the time is quite uncomfortable.
Part of his desire to move outside of England was probably to get away from the press in this country. It is hard for him to even shake them in Spain.

United players are always dealt a tougher hand when it comes to media attention and scrutiny. New signings like Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo will get used to that in the coming months.
Rashford has been dealing with it since he broke through at Old Trafford as a teenager. He will be hoping that good form in Barcelona will force certain outlets to either praise or ignore him going forward.
