Wes Brown praises “absolutely brilliant” Man Utd star who is causing Ruben Amorim headache for Nottingham Forest clash

Wes Brown has praised one “absolutely brilliant” Manchester United star who is causing a headache for Ruben Amorim ahead of a tough clash with Nottingham Forest.

Ruben Amorim and his Manchester United squad may have been thinking that the timing of the latest international break was not entirely ideal.

The Reds were building momentum, and the head coach will be hoping the two-week pause doesn’t disrupt their rhythm ahead of a challenging run of fixtures.

However, the break has also given some of United’s injured players a valuable opportunity to continue their recoveries, bringing them closer to full fitness.

On Friday afternoon, it was confirmed that Leny Yoro, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw had returned to team training at Carrington ahead of their match against Nottingham Forest.

Brown praises “total professional” Maguire after United return

Maguire, 32, has provided some solid performances since Amorim took charge and seems to suit the role in the middle of the back three.

The English defender had played every minute in six consecutive games before suffering an injury against Fulham in the FA Cup.

After being spotted with the team in United’s open training session, Wes Brown reserved praise for Maguire, who he says is a “total professional”.

“In the centre of that back three he’s done absolutely brilliant,” Brown said on MUTV while watching United’s training session on Friday.

“You can’t fault him. He gets a lot of stick but just sticks to it, [he’s a] total professional for me.”

Maguire return will cause headache for Amorim

Maguire was actually close to returning from injury before the international break but just missed out on the game against Leicester City.

That means that the experienced centre-back will likely be fully fit for the upcoming clash against Nottingham Forest.

However, Matthijs de Ligt has also been performing well in the centre of the defence and earned praise from Amorim for his recent form.

The United boss has several options to select for his backline but the main headache for the manager will likely be who to start in the middle of his back three.

De Ligt may well get the edge since Maguire is just coming back from injury but the Englishman will be hoping to fight for that spot heading into the final stretch of the season.
