Wes Brown explains why Ruben Amorim MUST make Amad change, Manchester United fans are conflicted
Wes Brown has shared his stance on the conversations surrounding Amad’s best position under Ruben Amorim at Manchester United.
Manchester United secured a comeback victory over Southampton on Thursday evening after Amad scored a late hat-trick in the game.
Amad has been the standout performer for Ruben Amorim since his arrival. He has 11 goals and assists under the Portuguese head coach.
United fans were delighted to hear that the Ivorian had recently signed terms to stay at the club until 2030 and they are even more pleased with the 22-year-old now.
He started as the right wingback against The Saints. He has either played there or as the right-sided no.10. According to transfermarkt, he has played eight times in the frontline and six times as the wingback.
Brown shares opinion on Amad’s best position
There has become a debate about which is his best position in Amorim’s system and former Reds defender Wes Brown has shared his opinions.
The former United player praised Amad’s finishing ability and believes that is a key reason why he is “more important” to the team in the frontline.
“He’s done it a lot this season and he’s really showing everyone what he’s about,” said Brown on MUTV’s post-match reaction programme.
“Not only that but he’s got the finishing touch as well, to put the ball in the back of the net, absolutely brilliant.
“He’s the one player for me… he was playing a little bit deeper today and he can still do that job but I always still feel he’s more important to us a little bit higher.”
Amad’s best position depends on team
There are understandable points to both sides of this argument and Amad has proven to be affective in the two different positions.
It feels like something that is quite unpredictable for the team currently, as you can’t predict how well the team will play or whether they will dominate possession.
Amad is much better use further up the pitch if his team can dominate the ball and get it to him as much as possible but we have also seen him somewhat isolated when the team cannot keep hold of possession.
That is when his qualities in build-up are more useful. It feels like we’ll know more about the Ivorian’s best position once the team becomes more consistent, which isn’t a problem in the player’s eyes.
“I am ready to play every position where the manager likes to put me. I am ready to fight for this club,” he told reporters this week. “I am so happy to play where the manager wants me to play and I am so happy to score a hat-trick.”
