Manchester United academy talent Dan Gore has experienced some extreme difficulties with injuries over the last two years.

Dan Gore is among a large group of talented players to emerge from Manchester United’s academy setup in recent years.

The young midfielder was in the same youth side as Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho. Gore received a first-team debut on his 19th birthday in September 2023.

However, the youngster’s pathway into the senior squad at Old Trafford was not as defined as the likes of Garnacho or Mainoo and so there was a decision to send him on loan.

Gore experienced loan difficulties

Gore was sent to Port Vale on loan in January last season but only played one game for them before suffering an unfortunate injury to rule him out for the remainder of the campaign.

After getting back to full fitness earlier this season and making several appearances for the Under-21s at United, Gore secured another loan in January to try and secure some consistent football.

He joined Rotherham and delivered a brilliant assist on his debut against table-topping Birmingham City in League One.

However, Gore hasn’t made an appearance since then and it was confirmed that he suffered another injury setback.

Rotherham boss confirms Gore injury boost

Gore was sent back to Carrington to work with United’s medical department to try and get back to full fitness as soon as possible.

Rotherham United manager Steve Evans has recently provided a positive update on the midfielder after communication with those at United.

Evans suggests that Gore could be back in contention to play next month for the final stretch of the season.

“We’re hopeful we’ll see him playing April football,” Evans told the Rotherham Advertiser.

“The Man United staff have spoken to our medical staff and said they’re hopeful that will be the case.

“I’m keen for our supporters to see the player who we worked so hard to get.”

It will be a boost for Gore if he can get a number of games under his belt before the end of the season to put a positive spin on a difficult spell for him.
