“We trained it a lot…” – Matheus Cunha has already explained huge problem Ruben Amorim must address next season

Manchester United’s new signing Matheus Cunha has already explained a huge problem that Ruben Amorim must address at Old Trafford next season.

Matheus Cunha has started training with Manchester United this week after being announced as the club’s statement signing last month.

The ex-Wolves forward is exactly what Ruben Amorim needs – a Premier League-proven attacker who can deliver in the final third.

Cunha scored 15 goals in the Premier League last season, and he also stood out in both games against the Reds as Wolves did the double over Amorim’s side.

At the Molineux, the 26-year-old scored and assisted in a 2-0 win who included him netting directly from a corner kick to open the scoring.

Cunha has already explained huge United problem

United fans learned what an Olimpico goal was last season, with Son Heung-min and Cunha both scoring directly from corners against them within a week.

Altay Bayindir played in the first game before the exact same thing happened to Andre Onana.

The Reds do not have a great record defending set-pieces and were bullied in a lot of instances last term. It was so obvious that Cunha even worked on his corner goal in training.

“No, it’s the first time,” the Brazilian responded when asked after the game whether he had scored from a corner beforehand.

“We trained it a lot, he [Vitor Pereira] said to me to try and kick it at goal and we’ll try to manage the goalkeeper, and then yeah, we did it well and I’m so happy.”

“Yeah, I was shooting, we trained with shooting,” he reiterated. “The first half I did one and he saved but the second one I had this kind of luck and scored a goal.”

Cunha can give alternative view of United’s problems

Cunha is a danger-man from set-pieces and he knows exactly how Wolves prepared to take advantage of United in those situations. This is certainly something Amorim and his staff can take on.

Securing Premier League-proven players is not only beneficial as they do not need adaption time, but also in other interesting ways.

Having players like Cunha come from other clubs within the division and be able to potentially give an outsiders view on things United need to improve could be very useful.

It is quite clear that set-pieces will be on that agenda, and Cunha will also hope to improve United in terms of attacking set-pieces with a wicked delivery.
