“We have been blessed…” – Manager reacts to Manchester United loan decision this week
Manchester United have started to make moves in the January transfer market after the window opened last week.
Ruben Amorim is eager for Manchester United to strengthen the squad during the January transfer window, but any additions will likely depend on player sales.
Nuno Mendes has emerged as a key target for the left wing-back position, with Patrick Dorgu also under consideration after impressing club scouts with his performances.
On the departure front, Marcus Rashford is a candidate for a loan move, while speculation continues to surround Antony and Casemiro.
Meanwhile, United remain focused on evaluating loan opportunities for their Academy prospects as part of a regular mid-season strategy.
United goalkeeper Harrison recalled from Chester loan
Elyh Harrison, the 18-year-old goalkeeper, joined Chester FC in the summer on loan and made 23 appearances for the National League North side.
Harrison quickly became one of Chester’s most important players, keeping nine clean sheets during his stint, but it has been confirmed that he has been recalled to Old Trafford.
The United shot-stopper is set to remain at the club for the rest of the season, training consistently with Amorim’s first-team squad and playing games for the Under-21s.
United rate the teenager very highly and believe he could eventually push through into the first-team in between the sticks.
Harrison won the Denzil Haroun Reserve-Team Player of the Year for 2023/24 after a stellar campaign in the Academy.
Chester manager reacts to Harrison recall
After it was confirmed that the goalkeeper would be departing, Chester supporters expressed their pride in the youngster’s development during his stint at the Deva Stadium.
Chester’s manager, Calum McIntyre, also had some kind words for Harrison on the club’s website, and admitted that the National League North side had been ‘blessed’ by the level of goalkeeper they have had in recent years.
McIntyre also praised the ‘immense ability’ Harrison possesses and thanked those at Old Trafford for doing the loan deal with them.
“Elyh has been superb for us, and we are really thankful for all his efforts over this first half of the season,” began McIntyre.
“We have been blessed in recent years with some really talented goalkeepers and it’s worth remembering that Elyh is just 18 years old, becoming the youngest goalkeeper to represent the football club at this level.
“He has shown his immense ability and has a hugely bright future in the game ahead of him. We can be really proud that we were his first taste of senior football.

“We would like to place on record our thanks to those in the Academy at Manchester United for placing their trust in us to take Elyh over the last five months.”
