Manchester United target Viktor Gyökeres’ stance on a move to the Saudi Pro League is clear after Al-Hilal placed him at the top of their transfer list.
Bruno Fernandes rejected a monstrous proposal from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal earlier this week, instead opting to remain at Manchester United.
That has seemingly kickstarted a domino effect, with Al-Hilal desperate to get some big-name deals over the line before the Club World Cup but they continue to get rejected.
Victor Osimhen was their number one target up front while they have also held serious interest in players like Ederson, Luis Díaz and Heung-min Son but none of those deals look like they will be happening.
Now, the latest information suggests that the Saudi club are trying to hijack United’s deal for the in-form Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting CP.
Gyökeres’ stance on spectacular Al-Hilal transfer revealed
According to Footmercato, Al-Hilal have now ‘activated’ their pursuit of Gyökeres, who is described to be ‘at the heart’ of the Saudi club’s ‘ambitious’ list of targets.
The 27-year-old striker is actively being followed, the report adds, and new manager Simone Inzaghi has already been consulted on the target.
There are no doubts that they would be willing to put a spectacular financial offer on the table for the player. For example, they were willing to pay £700,000-per-week for Fernandes and Osimhen.
However, it has previously been explained by talkSPORT that Gyökeres does not want to leave Europe this summer, especially just one year before the 2026 World Cup.
Sweden are expected to qualify for the tournament and the Sporting striker knows that he has tough competition upfront with Alexander Isak, although they are likely to start together.
Gyökeres reportedly very keen on United move
It seems clear that Gyökeres would rather stay in Europe’s top five leagues and it is well known that he remains ‘very keen’ on a move to Old Trafford.
United’s priority is on the Bryan Mbeumo deal and once that is finalised, they will need to make at least one major sale before they can launch a bid for Gyökeres.

With reports suggesting that the player remains in regular contact with Ruben Amorim, he could be waiting for such developments to occur.
Al-Hilal, on the other hand, will likely pivot quickly as they remain desperate to signing players in the coming days ahead of their opening Club World Cup fixture in less than two weeks.
