Manchester United will try and sign a striker for Ruben Amorim in the summer transfer window and Victor Osimhen would be a perfect option.

One of Manchester United’s biggest problems in recent seasons has been the lack of a consistent goal-threat.

The only player who has been able to show some level of consistency is Marcus Rashford, who netted 30 goals in the 2022/23 campaign.

But with the England international set to leave the club after his loan spell at Aston Villa, there are major question marks over the existing strike-force at Old Trafford.

Rasmus Højlund has proven that he is too inexperienced to lead the line as the first-choice option, while Joshua Zirkzee looks to play better when playing behind a true no.9.

With the club already looking at options, it has been well-reported that Victor Osimhen would be one of their preferred players to sign in the summer.

Osimhen “wants to join” United

Nigerian international Osimhen, currently on loan from Napoli at Turkish side Galatasaray, has been one of the best strikers in Europe for a number of years.

This season, Osimhen has recorded 19 goals and five assists in 24 appearances, building on three impressive campaigns in Italy, where he netted 66 goals during that period.

At 26 years old, he would be an excellent option for Amorim. Not only does he fit the head coach’s preferred style of play, but he also possesses the versatility to score goals in a variety of situations.

A fresh report from Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu has revealed that Osimhen wants to make the move to Old Trafford.

There remains potential question marks over United’s ability to match the player’s wages as well as submitting a large enough bid for Napoli to accept in the summer.

Osimhen sees Premier League move as the dream

Osimhen has made it clear that he would like to move to the Premier League in his career, claiming that it is his “dream” to play in England’s top flight.

A lot of people worldwide consider the Premier League as the best and the strongest league,” the 26-year-old said in March 2023 when speaking to Sky Sports.

“I’m working so hard to make sure that I achieve my dream of playing in the Premier League some day but like I said, it’s a process and I just want to keep on this momentum and continue to do well.”

It seems like Osimhen would open to the prospects of joining United, but their position right now is questionable and the striker would likely need some sort of convincing, especially if they are not playing in the Champions League next season.
