Victor Lindelof reveals his favourite Manchester United moment in farewell interview, it was an “amazing” achievement

Victor Lindelof has revealed his favourite moment at Manchester United during a farewell interview after it was confirmed he will leave the club.

Manchester United are set to see a number of departures this summer as the club attempts to rebuild following an abysmal 2024/25 season.

Ruben Amorim has already made up his mind on several players that he has deemed surplus to requirements, who will leave the club in some capacity this summer.

Some of these include big-name players like England internationals Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford, who both spent parts of last season out on loan and are now attracting interest from across Europe

As well as those departing on transfers, three players from the senior team will be moving on when their contracts expire. Jonny Evans‘ second stint at United has turned out to be the last chapter in his career as a player, as the 37-year-old has decided to retire from football. However, he will still be involved with United as he is set to take up a new position at Carrington working with the club’s academy.

The other two free agents are not set to retire and will be available for clubs to sign when their contracts expire. The first of these players is Christian Eriksen, who sealed his final Manchester United game with a goal in the club’s 2-0 win over Villa on the last day of the season.

The other player is Victor Lindelof, who, after eight years at the club, will leave as a free agent at the end of this month when his contract expires. Before his departure, Lindelof has held an interview with the club about his time at Old Trafford.

Lindelof shares his favourite United moment

Lindelof played the full 90 minutes of United’s final game of the season, and during his interview with MUTV, he shared his emotions during that final day.

“A perfect ending, clean sheet and a win, so it was a great ending,” Lindelof said. “To spend it with my family here, as well, was special. So, yeah, I couldn’t have asked for a better ending.”

The defender was then asked about his time at United as a whole. “Yeah, I am proud of myself, it’s been a lot of ups and downs but I mean, for me to be able to represent this club for eight years, it’s been an honour and a privilege, and a dream come true,” he added.

Despite being a part of United’s three lowest points-scoring Premier League seasons, Lindelof also experienced some major highs during his time in red.

The Sweden international was asked about his personal favourite moment at the cub and highlighted the FA Cup final win against Manchester City in 2024.

“I think the FA Cup was great, Obviously, such an historic cup and to be able to win it was amazing,” he said. In addition to that trophy, Lindelof helped the side to their 2023 EFL Cup victory, which was the club’s first trophy since 2017.

Lindelof appreciates the United fans

Lindelöf also has great appreciation for the fans of the club after his long stint and made sure to point that out during his exit interview as well.

“I’ve had so many good memories here, just looking at the Stretford End here, I mean, I’m going to miss it a lot,” he smiled.

“They’re with us through absolutely everything, and it doesn’t matter the result, every single week, they come here and they support us and they sing their souls out.”

The Swede ended his farewell to the fans by saying, “I just want to say thank you so much for taking me in. I’m leaving as a player, but I will always be a fan.”

The signing of a new central defender to replace Lindelof doesn’t seem to be high on the club’s transfer priorities at present, with young defenders like Tyler Fredricson, Goodwill Kukonki and Ayden Heaven potentially stepping up to fill his shoes.

Regardless of his replacement in the squad, Lindelof was positive about the future for the club despite a difficult campaign last term.

“I wish nothing but the best for the guys and everyone around the club. Yeah, hopefully next season will be a little better than this one. I’m very sure it’s going to be.”
