Victor Lindelöf breaks silence on Aston Villa move, he completely agrees with Marcus Rashford on key transfer detail

Victor Lindelöf has broken his silence regarding his recent transfer to Aston Villa and he completely agrees with Marcus Rashford on one key transfer detail.

As we reach deadline day, Manchester United are still in the midst of their summer clear-out, which included the long-serving Swede, Victor Lindelöf.

Ruben Amorim’s side had brought in three new additions to their squad ahead of the final day, but look set to add goalkeeper Senne Lammens before the deadline.

On the outgoing front, United made it clear which players were not in their plans ahead of the new Premier League campaign, and have only recently found some success in their selling attempts.

The likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Rasmus Højlund all look set to join Lindelöf in finding new clubs, either permanently or on a loan basis.

Lindelöf breaks silence on Villa move

The Swedish centre-back has now joined Aston Villa, and has also broken his silence to the club’s media department as to why he made the move.

Lindelöf said to VillaTV, “It’s a massive club, and I was super excited when I heard that the club wanted me. I spoke to my wife, and we felt it was a good move for us as a family and for me as a player. I’ve been at the Premier League for many years, so I know what it’s all about.

“Hopefully, I can help the younger players with my experience, and also bring in the quality like I show on the pitch. I am super, super happy and thrilled to be part of this football club.”

The defender also explained how speaking with Unai Emery helped convince him that it was the right move for him. This is similar to what Marcus Rashford said when he moved to Villa Park on loan last season.

“We had a good talk a couple of days ago, and we just talked about the football and how he sees me as a player and what I can bring to the team,” continued Lindelöf.

“That as well was one of the things that made me want to come here, after that phone call. We had a good talk, and (I am) really looking forward to working under him.”

United’s successful offloading

Although Lindelöf has joined the Villains on a free transfer due to his contract ending at United, he still joins a plethora of Reds to find a new club in the final week of the window.

Until recently, it was only Rashford who had successfully found a new side, joining Barcelona on a loan move, whereas now, many more have joined the English winger.

Garnacho has joined Chelsea, Sancho has joined Lindelöf at Villa for the year, Antony looks set to join Real Betis, and Højlund is seemingly on the way to Napoli – this concludes a very successful week for the Red Devils.

With all of United’s transfer business coming to a triumphant end on this deadline day, hopefully, things can start to look up for the side.

It would also be the cherry on top if the Reds were able to see their loyal, Swedish servant find some success at Villa as he bids for more game time.
