“Unprecedented” – Manchester United in competition with European elites for fresh young star

Manchester United have entered the race for a fresh face who has caught the eye of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United have looked heavily improved this season, with squad chemistry looking more fluid and team performances becoming more consistent. But there has always been a watchful eye over the United players, specifically the midfield.

The Red Devils have their sights set on securing their spot in European football again after finishing last season in 15th place, their worst finish in Premier League history and their recent recruitment has been a major reason for their recent run of good form.

Bringing in the likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko in the summer have set a statement of intent from United focusing on improving United’s attacking line. However, there is still question marks over United’s midfield.

United have identified a brilliant young prospect who could be the long term fix in Amorim’s system, but it would not be an easy process to secure the signing, with many big teams watching the youngster.

United identify Eichhorn as potential midfield star

Hertha BSC youngster, Kennet Eichhorn has burst onto the Bundesliga 2 scene featuring in 9 of Hertha’s 12 league games so far playing in a defensive midfield role. The 16-year-old may be the key to United’s midfield troubles.

Casemiro has been performing well for United this season, but the 33-year-old is not as physically solid as he once was. Meanwhile, Manuel Ugarte has made fans grow frustrated with his lack of quality. Kobbie Mainoo has struggled for game time under Amorim as he is not seen as the correct profile for the role.

Eichhorn excels in his ball carrying ability, operating from deep and being the engine of Hertha’s plays. Securing his chance in the first team through injuries, the young German has performed to a standard that has made that place his own.

United would have competition from Europe’s biggest clubs

According to Sky Sports Germany, the teenager has caught the attention of many big clubs in Europe, including Barcelona, Paris Saint Germain and Real Madrid.

However it is the fellow German clubs who have made the most interest. Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leibzig have reportedly already had officials in the stands watching him.

The “prodigy” is believed to cost around €10-12m with Eichhorn’s contract expiring in 2029. Manchester United have positioned themselves inside an “unprecedented market” to keep a watchful eye on the German U17 who’s future is “completely open”.

Factors such as chances of promotion, Champions League qualification and moving away from Germany could all impact the final outcome, so Eichhorn and his entourage remain relaxed for the time being. But they remain aware that big clubs, including Manchester United, are circling.
