‘Unhappy in that role…” Full details of Manchester United dressing room’s thoughts on Ruben Amorim

A trusted transfer inside has revealed all regarding Manchester United’s captain, Bruno Fernandes, and his unhappiness surrounding his current deeper role at the club.

After what was a positive summer for Manchester United, much of the club’s built-up optimism has since been drained, due to a disappointing start to the campaign.

Ruben Amorim’s side have acquired seven points from their first six games in the Premier League, leaving them in 14th place, whilst they have also bowed out of the Carabao Cup due to a shock defeat to Grimsby Town.

One of the main concerns surrounding Amorim’s tenure has been his refusal to adapt his 3-4-2-1 system, which has left a lot of his key players either forced out of the starting XI, or forced into deeper roles.

One of these players in particular has been Bruno Fernandes, who has been used in a far deeper role than he is used to. Transfer insider Ben Jacobs has revealed Fernandes’ thoughts on this.

Key players supporting Amorim

When asked about an update regarding the players’ feelings, Jacobs said, via The United Stand on X, “The senior leadership group are all behind Ruben Amorim.”

The transfer insider then stated, “Harry Maguire in particular, I’m told, has been very vocal in telling other players that they need to stand up and be counted on.”

“Most of the players want to turn things around; they believe that they can within this system, but there are exceptions within that dressing room, and that was the case also over the summer too.”

Clearly, the United boss still has the backing of his players, and most importantly, his more senior players, although he will need to reward their patience in the coming weeks.

Fernandes ‘unhappy’ in deep role

Despite what Jacobs said about the club’s senior players, he then went on to mention how United’s newer signings, as well as Fernandes, may have some scepticism setting in.

“I think, ironically, I’m told, but some of the new players in particular are the most disillusioned because the pitch that they were given tactically, in football terms, hasn’t yet matched up to the reality, so that’s quite intriguing.

“As I’ve said many times, some of the new signings looked at the Manchester United squad, including some of the players that had gone, and thought one or two of those that have departed might also be quite conducive to their game.

“Then you have Bruno Fernandes, who I wouldn’t call unhappy with his manager; if anything, they have got a positive relationship. He’s captain of the football club, but he’s unhappy with playing in that deeper role.”

Hopefully in the weeks to come, Amorim can figure out a solution which gets the best out of Fernandes, as well as his new-look front three, otherwise, the writing may be on the wall.
