Manchester United have been dealt multiple updates on Rúben Amorim’s squad as they prepare to take on FCSB in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

Manchester United are preparing for their final Europa League fixture of the league stage as they travel to Romania to face FCSB on Thursday evening.

After starting the competition by drawing three games in a row, the club have since won their last four, hauling them from 21st to 4th in the European league standings, with Rúben Amorim eyeing it as a chance to secure his first trophy at the club.

United most recently defeated Rangers in the competition last week and followed this up with a 1-0 victory over Fulham, which tallies four wins from their six fixtures across 2025, but facing FCSB will be no easy task.

The SuperLiga side are sat 8th in the Europa League table themselves and need a win to put themselves in the top eight of the league, which are automatic qualification spots for the knockout rounds.

Teams that finish between 9-24th will have to play two play-off games in order to progress, while the bottom eight sides are knocked out of the competition entirely.

United’s latest injury news

The most significant update to come out of United in the last few days is that Manuel Ugarte had to come off with an injury against Fulham after a clash with Adama Traore in the second half of Sunday evening’s tie.

However, a reliable source for team news, UtdMenace on X, has explained that although he has a slight knock, there is no significant problem.

On left-back Luke Shaw, Amorim said last week: “He is going to be fit to train with the team. Then we have to start with more minutes, we do not have a lot of time to train.

“We have to put some exercises in 10 minutes and then he has to make extra work to improve his fitness. I don’t know [when he will play], it is two weeks to start training before I think about putting him in for some minutes.”

There was a slight scare surrounding Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt after both players were withdrawn early against Rangers, but the latter started against Fulham and was replaced by the former after 58 minutes, signifying that beyond managing minutes, both players are okay.

Noussair Mazraoui also returned to the team and played 81 minutes on the weekend after missing the Rangers fixture.

A few weeks ago, many thought that by now Alejandro Garnacho may have departed the club, but in fact, the 20-year-old has started United’s last two games and has looked sharp.

Both Napoli and Chelsea are interested in the player, but it’s thought neither club have been able to meet United’s £60 million valuation so far, and he looks set to continue in the squad after good form.

Mason Mount remains unavailable with a hamstring problem, while Victor Lindelöf returned to the matchday squad for the first time since December. There has been no update on Jonny Evans after he was not spotted in training a few weeks ago.
