Tyrell Malacia’s camp have provided a nine-word message after the defender’s Manchester United exit this summer collapsed.
The summer transfer window has now closed, and Tyrell Malacia stands out as the only Manchester United player deemed surplus to requirements who failed to secure a move.
The left-back has been frozen out of Ruben Amorim’s first-team plans since returning from loan and was expected to seal a switch to La Liga side Elche on an initial loan.
However, that transfer collapsed at the final hurdle, with it reported that talks broke down over the weekend before deadline day.
The stumbling block was an inability between the clubs and the player’s camp to reach agreement on a clause that would have made the deal permanent at the end of the season.
Malacia’s camp provide nine-word message after United exit collapsed
Malacia has been training individually all summer and he has been working closely with the House of Champions gym, with Jordan Kroon being his personal trainer.
Over the last few months, the Dutch defender and his camp have uploaded several videos of him working hard away from the pitch. He was in Texas during the summer break.
Malacia has worked alongside Jordan, and his father Hans, since he emerged at Feyenoord before his United move in 2022. They were present at Carrington when he signed.
Hans, the co-owner of the House of Champions gym, uploaded a video of Malacia working in the gym on deadline day after his exit had collapsed.
The clip was captioned: “A setback is an opportunity for a great comeback,” and Jordan re-posted the message on his own Instagram story.

Malacia will be hoping that the comeback is sooner than the January window, although he now has limited options.
Malacia still has chance to leave
While the English transfer window is closed, the windows remain open in Turkey and Saudi Arabia for another week or so, which gives Malacia the chance to depart and play football.
Amorim claimed during the summer window that he would reintegrate any of the ‘bomb squad’ members who didn’t leave the club. Antony, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho all got their moves eventually.

But even if Malacia is back training with the United squad, he wouldn’t have a chance of getting any game-time. Patrick Dorgu, Diogo Dalot and perhaps even Diego Leon would be preferred to him on the right flank.
It feels like he needs to leave in the coming days for his own good. United are not searching for a lucrative fee and Malacia simply needs to play football.
