Tyrell Malacia sends message to Manchester United chiefs over loan decision, his stance is clear
Tyrell Malacia has made his stance on a potential January loan clear after his recent return from injury for Manchester United.
Manchester United are planning to make several loan exits in the January transfer window, with Antony on the verge of completing a move to Real Betis.
According to recent reports, United could also send left-back Tyrell Malacia on loan until the end of the season.
Since recovering from a lengthy 17-month knee injury, Malacia has struggled to secure regular playing time under Ruben Amorim.
The potential signing of Patrick Dorgu, who would play at left wingback, would only limit Malacia’s minutes even more.
United have reportedly informed Malacia that he could depart on loan, which has sparked interest from clubs across European leagues.
While his next destination has not yet been revealed, Malacia and United have agreed that seeking consistent game time elsewhere is the best course of action for the short term.
Malacia sends clear message about potential loan
Malacia has explained in a recent interview with club media that he is glad to be back fit and aims to play against the best at Old Trafford.
But the defender also expressed his desire to play as much football as possible, hinting that reports stating he is open to a loan are correct.
“You always want to play against the best,” Malacia explained. “So that’s why I’m at Manchester United. That’s why you want to play in the Premier League.
“I’m always prepared. I always want to play good games, so it doesn’t matter against who. I feel sharp and I feel ready.
“All I want to do is to play football. It’s been a long time so I’m happy to be back.”
Malacia doesn’t fit Amorim’s new system at United
Malacia seems like another player at United who has been negatively impacted by the change in formation under Ruben Amorim.
Like Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui, he is not good enough going forward to truly excel in the wingback position.
However, both of the right-backs have the ability to play in the back three, whereas Malacia is not an option in that position either, leaving him in a difficult position.
For the Reds, they will hope to find a loan move where Malacia can get consistent game-time and then reassess his situation in the summer, hopefully with more options after a strong second half of the season from the Dutchman.
