Two Manchester United stars are making Ruben Amorim “humiliating” claim become reality

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim made his feelings clear on Marcus Rashford’s departure to Aston Villa on loan last month.

Marcus Rashford ended up leaving Manchester United on loan in the January transfer window, joining Aston Villa on loan for the rest of the season.

That followed the club sanctioning a deal for Antony to move to Spanish club Real Betis on loan after a difficult time at Old Trafford for the Brazilian.

United fans were not hugely disappointed with the exits, but rather surprised that no one was signed to replace them in the frontline.

Amad suffered a season-ending injury shortly after the window closed and Ruben Amorim now has huge problems at the front of his team.

Amorim said Rashford loan success wouldn’t be humiliating

With the struggles in terms of goalscoring at Old Trafford this year, Amorim was asked about the possibility of Rashford’s loan becoming “embarrassing” for him if the 28-year-old was to hit form at Villa Park.

But the manager pushed back on that idea and suggested that it would not be “humiliating” for him to see Rashford improve, as that is what you expect when sending a player on loan.

“It’s not embarrassing,” said Amorim earlier this month. “When you loan a player – and I don’t think it’s official yet – you expect him to play and improve, so there’s nothing humiliating there.

“I understand the question, but I’m just focused on my players, that’s all. When the window closes, I will be really focused on just our team and trying to improve our team.”

However, things are seeming to be going the other way, with both Rashford and Antony starting their time on loan in excellent fashion while those who remain at United continue to disappoint.

United loans making Amorim humiliating claim come true

Antony has now played six games for Betis and already registered five goal contributions. He assisted Isco in their latest win over Getafe.

Meanwhile, Rashford grabbed two assists in a 2-1 win over Chelsea on Saturday night in his second start. The forward has created the most big chances of any player in the Premier League since his arrival in the Midlands.

When you compare that to some of the attacking players at Old Trafford in recent months, the difference is stark.

Rasmus Højlund has not scored or assisted in his last 16 appearances, Alejandro Garnacho has two assists in his last 19 games. Joshua Zirkzee has two goals in his last 19 games.

Amorim said that it wouldn’t be embarrassing or humiliating to see players thrive on loan, but it is almost impossible for it not to be with the output of the options at Old Trafford.

And there is no guarantee that Antony or Rashford would be excelling at the club right now if they stayed, but there is no denying that it doesn’t look good for Amorim or United.
