Two Manchester United players receive major Southampton boost after outstanding international break displays
Manchester United stars Joshua Zirkzee and Noussair Mazraoui have been given a huge boost in their hopes of starting for the Red Devils this weekend.
United, are set to travel to nineteenth-placed Southampton for this weekend’s Premier League action.
Speaking ahead of the Red Devils trip down south, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag confirmed that both Luke Shaw and Rasmus Hojlund will be unable to play in the fixture.
Both Shaw and Hojlund are making efforts to return from injury, yet when asked about their fitness Ten Hag said the following:
“Rasmus Hojlund and Luke Shaw, they are progressing very well, but are not ready for this game.”
Whilst the absence of Shaw and Hojlund may come to the detriment of the overall Red Devils squad, it will seemingly cement the starting positions of both Joshua Zirkzee and Noussair Mazraoui
Zirkzee, place in the United team will come just a week after the Dutchman put in a Man of the Match performance against Bosnia & Herzegovina last Saturday.
In a 74-minute appearance, Zirkzee would score and assist, whilst also creating three big chances as the Netherlands would win 5-2.
In the case of Mazraoui, the Morrocan international played 90 minutes in a 4-1 victory over Gabon.
Both Mazraoui and Zirkzee arrived this summer as part of United’s recruitment of five new additions to the club.
