The two Manchester United coaches who could leave after latest Ruben Amorim update
There are two Manchester United coaches who could leave the club after the latest updates surrounding new manager Ruben Amorim.
Manchester United have contacted Sporting Lisbon and offered to meet the release clause for manager Ruben Amorim.
Amorim, who currently has Sporting at the top of the Portuguese league with an unbeaten record this season, is open to making the move following United’s sacking of Erik ten Hag.
It looks nailed on for the 39-year-old manager to become the club’s new head coach and United are desperate to have him in the door as soon as possible.
Latest Ruben Amorim developments
According to a new report from The Times, the Portuguese club are demanding that United pay an additional £4 million for the release of several of Amorim’s backroom staff.
United are already set to pay just over £8 million for the release clause of the 39-year-old manager but the report explains that he wants to bring three of his staff members with him to Old Trafford.
Those will be his assistant manager Adélio Cândido, assistant coach Carlos Fernandes and goalkeeper coach Jorge Vital.
Currently, it is claimed that United will not be able to get Amorim through the door until his 30-day notice period is complete, which would mean that the Reds stick with Ruud van Nistelrooy as interim manager for a longer period.
However, bosses at Old Trafford are keen to get their new man in the door ready to take charge of the weekend’s game against Chelsea in the Premier League.
The aforementioned report explains that if United are willing to pay the additional £4 million for Amorim’s desired coaching staff, the Sporting board will also waive the manager’s notice period, allowing him to join his new club immediately.
Amorim update spells bad news for two United coaches
With Amorim set to bring three new coaches to the setup at Old Trafford, it would be surprising if there was not adjustments to the current coaching staff.
It looks like Jelle ten Rouwelaar’s stay at the club will be cut short after he joined United in the summer as a new goalkeeping coach. Rouwelaar was pinched from Ajax’s grasp but with Amorim set to bring in his own keepers’ coach in Vital, it seems likely that the Dutchman will depart.
Amorim is also set to bring in his two assistants, Cândido and Fernandes, which makes it seem like one of the current assistant coaches could leave.
Van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake both joined the club in the summer to be Ten Hag’s new joint-assistants despite previously holding managerial roles. This also makes it seem less likely that they would be open to having their roles altered.
Perhaps one could stay under Amorim, particularly to help the manager who will be in a completely new environment, but it seems unlikely to have what would essentially be four assistants.
After a reshuffle under Ten Hag in the summer, it seems that there will be more changes to the coaching setup with Amorim at the helm.
