Two Arsenal stars could MISS game against Man United in Premier League, on verge of yellow card ban
Arsenal have both Bukayo Saka and William Saliba on the verge of suspension, with both players a yellow card each away from missing their fixture against Manchester United.
The Premier League leaders will face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon, a fixture known to produce tension between the two teams. However, Saka and Saliba will be walking on thin ice as they have one eye on United’s upcoming visit.
Both defender and winger have been crucial for The Gunners in their emergence as title contenders this season, a tag that is beginning to be placed on Ten Hag’s side after their 2-1 win over Manchester City on Saturday.
Saka has scored seven goals this season and provided the same amount of assists, whilst Saliba has been one of the best-performing defenders in the league.
Should either pick up a yellow card ahead of the United fixture, it would be a boost for Ten Hag’s men, who will be eager to close the gap on the top of the table.
Ten Hag’s men were victorious in the reverse fixture, with Marcus Rashford grabbing a brace in Arsenal’s only league defeat of the season.
The Reds will travel to Selhurst Park ahead of the weekend’s game for a midweek clash against Crystal Palace. Wout Weghorst could make his United debut after his loan signing was announced on Friday.
Casemiro will have to be careful as well, should he play against Palace, as he could also be suspended for Arsenal if he is shown another yellow card.
Speaking on the new forward, Ten Hag said: “He is a striker, and we had an open position there to fill in.
“I think in the balance of the offensive [players], he really fits in. I am really happy, and I don’t think we had the type what he is.
“Most importantly, he can score goals from everywhere and he was always a surprise at every club, in every league. That is also what I expect here.
“For here, I expect a team player and someone who can link up, a player who will do his defending work and we are really happy to sign him.”
