Travis Binnion: Manchester United academy duo have the right tools to succeed in the Premier League

Manchester United’s under-21s manager Travis Binnion has claimed that two of his Academy stars have the right tools to succeed in the Premier League at Old Trafford.

There have been several Academy debuts at Manchester United in the first-team this season, with Ruben Amorim giving out three of them.

Toby Collyer made his first appearance under Erik ten Hag in the Community Shield against Manchester City before Amorim trusted Chido Obi, Harry Amass and Tyler Fredricson to take their first professional minutes.

United fans may not have much to cheer about lately, but the wealth of talent emerging from the Academy at Carrington is a genuine reason for optimism.

There are plenty of youngsters trying to become the next one to get their debuts, including Bendito Mantato and Jaydan Kamason.

Amorim views Mantato and Kamason as key

Mantato and Kamason are both viable options for the right wingback spot in Amorim’s system for different reasons.

Mantato developed as a left-back before moving forward to right-wing, and the left-footed starlet has many exciting attributes. Meanwhile, Kamason is a natural right-back but has shown great offensive abilities from that position in the youth teams.

Both of them were included in the Europa League squad to face Athletic Club last week and there was an expectation among fans that one of them would get a debut against Brentford on the following weekend considering neither Diogo Dalot or Noussair Mazraoui were in the squad.

But instead it was Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu operating on that right flank, with Amass coming into the team on the opposite side. Neither Mantato or Kamason were in the squad and, surprisingly, they were both absent for the Under-21s game on Monday night.

It has been explained by various reports that the reason for this is since Amorim considers both players as key to the first-team preparations in training ahead of the second-leg with Athletic Club, showcasing that the Portuguese boss rates them both highly.

Binnion says Mantato and Kamason have right tools for Premier League

Under-21s boss Binnion has tipped both of the right-sided players for a bright future under Amorim in the first-team squad.

The youth coach believes that Mantato and Kamason have the tools to succeed in the Premier League, and that they will only improve while working hard behind the scenes.

“They have both got loads to come,” Binnion told MailSport after the Under-21s won 4-1 against West Ham’s youth side in the PL2 play-off quarter-final.

“They have tools which are Premier League tools and they are only going to get better. They are learning on the job but being around the manager, his staff and senior players is only going to quicken that up.”

With three remaining Premier League games this season, if there is to be a fifth Academy graduate of the campaign, it seems like it will either be Kamason or Mantato.
