Tottenham vs Manchester United officials confirmed as Premier League pick 5-penalty official
The Premier League have confirmed who will be officiating Manchester United’s upcoming trip as they face Tottenham Hotspur in North London on Sunday afternoon.
Manchester United are set to resume their Premier League campaign with a trip to Tottenham Hotspur in the coming days.
The two sides have already met in North London this season, with Spurs edging a thrilling 4-3 contest to eliminate Rúben Amorim’s side from the Carabao Cup.
Both clubs have endured similar struggles this season, sitting 13th and 14th in the table, with United holding a two-point advantage over Tottenham.
The upcoming clash is set to be a high-stakes encounter, as a defeat would stall Amorim’s progress at United, while another setback for Spurs would further fuel calls from fans for Ange Postecoglou’s dismissal.
Confirmed officials
Peter Bankes (pictured below) will be the referee on Sunday afternoon in North London. Bankes has officiated 15 Premier League matches this season and five in other domestic competitions, including two Championship fixtures.
So far this season, Bankes has issued 61 yellow cards in the Premier League and 84 across all competitions. He has issued two red cards, both from double yellows, and has awarded five penalties this season, all in the Premier League.
Bankes has met United twice this season, officiating the side’s 3-0 win against Leicester City at Old Trafford and 3-1 loss against Brighton, also in Manchester, where he penalised Noussair Mazraoui by handing the visitors a penalty.

During the game, Eddie Smart and Nick Greenhalgh will serve as Bankes’ assistant referees. Michael Salisbury will be the fourth official on Sunday afternoon, separating Amorim and Postecoglou.
Paul Tierney has been appointed as the Video Assistant Referee. Gary Beswick will act as assistant VAR.
