Tim Sherwood issues apology to Benjamin Šeško after shocking Man Utd claims, “he’s playing to…”

Former Spurs manager Tim Sherwood has issued an apology to Benjamin Šeško after his previous claims that he lacked courage under Ruben Amorim.

Times have changed at Manchester United, no longer are fans dreading a match against mid-table opposition, player form has imporved and team morale has lifted as the Reds cruise into third position.

Michael Carrick has played an imperative role in this process. During his tenure, United have gone seven games unbeaten, and have won six of those games.

The former United midfielder has reinvigorated the impact of many of the players; stars like Bryan Mbeumo and Maheus Cunha have become giant-slayers after the Reds beat Manchester City and Arsenal.

Benjamin Šeško is another player who has been in fine form, as he forces his way into the starting eleven, which has led to many pundits backtracking on their previous analysis of him, including former Spurs and Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood.

Sherwood praises “battery-charged” Šeško

After the recent manager change, Šeško has found form under Carrick and has scored four in five during his short tenure so far.

Sherwood spoke about Šeško on the NoTippyTappy Podcast, after previously saying he lacked courage under former manager Ruben Amorim.

“I’m judging him on what I saw in the early part of the season, under Ruben Amorim. I’m judging him on not having the courage to stand up and take a penalty against Grimsby.”

A fair observation, however, the squad morale was dire that day, as the Reds went 2-0 to a League Two side, failed to make a comeback, and then lost on penalties later that night. Šeško was not to blame for that defeat.

“I owe the kid an apology, because Michael Carrick has all of a sudden put a battery charger in him… He’s playing to his strengths.”

Šeško has certainly silenced the critics, as he is currently the most in-form striker in the Premier League. After arriving with such a vast price tag, at a club with a notoriously ruthless fanbase, fans will be ecstatic that he’s performing.

“I will go back on that. And just say I’m going to give him time.” Sherwood continued. It’s refreshing to see a pundit criticise his own claims, especially in the case of 22-year-old Šeško.

Šeško completes perfect summer intake

As previously mentioned, the summer signings have been lighting up the Premier League with emphatic ability. Mbeumo and Cunha have slotted straight into the starting eleven and have provided United fans with overwhelming hope from the first game of the season against Arsenal.

Another signing who has been all but perfect this season is Belgian international Senne Lammens. The 23-year-old is certainly an upgrade on the man he replaced, Andre Onana.

Christopher Vivell has played a crucial part in the squad’s overhaul, convincing Amorim to sign Šeško over 30-year-old Ollie Watkins.

Yet still, it remains an exciting time for United fans, as the club is rumoured to be ready to splash an approximate £190 million on signings next summer transfer window.

Names like Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali, and Michael Kayode are being speculated as shortlisted options. Fans will be anticipating Vivell to choose the next United star.
