Three interesting things noticed during Man United’s extended Los Angeles training video
Manchester United arrived in Los Angeles for their pre-season training camp on Thursday and are now preparing to face Arsenal this weekend.
The Reds faced up against Rosenborg and Rangers in Norway and Scotland, respectively, in the last two weeks ahead of the tour.
Arsenal, Real Betis and Liverpool are the opposition for Erik ten Hag’s side while in the United States, and they have set up base at The University of California.
Many supporters have been praising the social media team at United during pre-season so far due to the content being produced. A new 10-minute training video was released on Friday for those fans to enjoy.
UtdDistrict have picked out three interesting things noticed in the extended video below.
Training cam
It was very cool to see United include training cam footage during the session. Toby Collyer had a camera attached to his chest during the warm-up and it helps you to see what the training is really like.
Even Jonny Evans was impressed when he noticed the camera…
We’ve seen similar cameras used in pre-season games involving Aston Villa, for example, when Youri Tielemans wore one, and it was uploaded online.
These types of videos in game situations have been noted to show just how quick the professional game is compared to us strolling about on a Sunday morning, so it’s definitely interesting to watch.
McTominay’s fan interaction
One of the best parts about these pre-season tours is that United fans across the globe are able to go and watch their favourite team when it might be extremely difficult to travel to Manchester for a game at Old Trafford.
Many fans also turn up to the training camp, and the United players offer their time to sign autographs, pose for selfies, or just have a quick chat.
That’s exactly what happened on Thursday as Scott McTominay was signing an autograph for two fans, and a brilliant interaction came afterwards.
One of the fans said to the Scotsman, “Thanks for always helping the team with the last-minute goals,” to which McTominay, with a wry smile and laugh, simply responded: “No problem.”
McTominay posed for a selfie afterwards. The midfielder netted 10 times last season, with several of those being game-altering goals. The late double against Brentford to win the game were perhaps the picks of the bunch.
Rashford’s ball mastery
One thing that some people will look out for in these training videos is any skills or juggling moves that the players produce and it was Marcus Rashford doing the ball mastery before a drill.
The no.10 did a few ‘around the worlds’ and some other moves that were too confusing for me to know their names – but it was very impressive.
He ended with an in-air elastico, something we’ve seen him do on the ground in several United games beforehand.
