Manchester United have began their training in Chicago ahead of three pre-season friendlies in the United States over the next two weeks.
After beginning their pre-season preparations earlier this month, Manchester United will be aiming for a strong US tour before the start of the Premier League campaign next month.
Matheus Cunha, Diego Leon and Bryan Mbeumo have joined the squad as new players and were all on the plane which landed Stateside on Tuesday evening.
Ruben Amorim’s side are working hard at Chicago Fire’s training ground and the club have uploaded footage of their first training session from Wednesday morning.
Following on from this, UtdDistrict have noted three interesting aspects from the session before clashes against West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton.
Mainoo’s looking sharp
Kobbie Mainoo looked sharp in the opening game of pre-season and that hasn’t changed on US soil if these training clips are anything to go by.
The 20-year-old provided the best finish within the four-minute video, controlling the ball with his chest before finding the top corner with a fierce volley.
After playing in the deeper role against Leeds, the Academy graduate will be aiming to prove himself to Amorim in that position throughout the rest of the summer camp.
Interesting training drill
In one of the previous training clips at Carrington there was a clear emphasis on creating cutback opportunities. The same could be seen in Chicago this week.
One of the training drills involved a winger moving inside from the right and playing a reverse pass to an overlapping player. He would cut the ball towards the penalty spot where another player would make a run in front of a mannequin and finish the move off.
Mainoo was seen delivering towards Casemiro, who made the run towards the front post and expertly flicked the ball past Dermot Mee.
Water breaks in strong heat
It was no surprise to see the squad have multiple water breaks during this session as the heat in Chicago has been extremely strong since their arrival.
Temperature have been expected to top 32 degrees, and increased humidity will push that to as much as 46 degrees on the heat index, according to the National Weather Service.
Reports explained that United were aware of this spike and have planned accordingly with the players’ water breaks and nutrition plans.
